Dear Diary 2014, Week 43..

20.10.14 to 25.10.14
There are two V&A images for Week 43.
Left - "Dress fabric, silk damask, brocaded in silks and silver-gilt thread, France, about 1700"
Right - "Dress fabric, pink silk lustring brocaded with file & frise silver thread, Spitalfields, London, about 1719-20"
For my interpretation I have used some silk ribbon, gathered it and stitched it to a piece of card.
The left ribbon interpretation is a blue silk with gold trim, the gathering has formed a flower.
The right ribbon interpretation is a grey varigated silk ribbon, once gatherd into the flower shape I attached a tiny pearl to the centre.

Dear Diary 2014 - Week 40

29.9.14 to 5.10.14
My V&A Diary is back., back from a visit to the Embroiderers Guild where it was on display for a month. It received some very encouraging reviews. Now back to a bit of a catch up time and onto keeping a record of my progress and posting the images on this blog..  The V&A image for Week 40 is a "Design by James Leman {1688-1745}, 1710"  My interpretation is a piece of gold card with a chain stitch trailing, looping,  meandering its way around.
