Dear Diary 2014, Week 6

Week 6,  3rd February to 9th February  2014

My interpretation of the Waistcoat, has been a focus on the colours , in particular i have picked out the paler colours - ecru and beige.
The materials i have engaged are a piece of linen, dmc threads {pearl and stranded} and silk ribbon.
The techniques I have used are loose button hole stitch, detached button hole stitch and french knots. I felt like working an encrusted piece of embroider this week. I took the design for the sample i produced is from the sleeve of the waistcoat.

Waistcoat, silk brocaded with coloured silk, woven in Spitalfields, London, about 1734
